Blast from the Past: The Indian Education System

This is one of the first poems I wrote during lockdown; it was meant to be my take on the Indian Education System. At that time, I was just trying to rhyme everything, so while this might not be the best-written poem, look out for those sweet rhyming syllables!

Physics, with Force, Motion and Astronomy

Biology, with Botany, Well-Being and Anatomy

Chemistry, with the Proton, Electron and Neutron

All three sciences thrived in Unison

But after 74 years they went hand-in-hand,

Labs and Practicals remain a demand!

The Bolds, italics, and calligraphy of curvature

The Prose, Poems, and Plays of Literature

The verbs, tenses, and conjunctions of Grammar

The British and Italian accents of Glamour

While all these things, we have managed to foster

English remains a field that we have yet to master.

Geography with its Landforms, countries, and climate

History with its Rulers, Revolts, and evolution from the primates

Civics with the governments, law, and equality for the masses

Economics with labor, capital, profits, and losses

All the above, in 74 years, we had strongly embraced

Lucky we are, for the social sciences, we have aced.

The lines, angles, and constructions of geometry

The sines, cosines, and tangents of trigonometry

The signs, powers, and numbers of arithmetic

And formulas that resemble a magic trick

When it comes to math, India is elite

So far ahead, that no one could beat.

But yet, everything we learn isn't quite pragmatic;

Not often do we have a chance to become athletic,

Arts and sports are often left in the Dark;

Forgotten clubs, which would make happiness spark.

Education in India is not the perfect tale,

There are pieces in the shadows yet to prevail.

Literacy rates and numbers, we should stop running behind;

And focus more on making education refined.

As a Wiseman once said, "Quality over Quantity,

Pay attention to the need for more variety.

With all these changes, in my eyes;

India shall become an educational paradise.
